Florida: Self-defense claim allowed in neighbor shooting: "It couldn't be proved that a Homosassa man who shot and killed a neighbor on June 14 was not acting in self-defense. That according to Assistant State Attorney Pete Magrino who, in a memo, said his conclusion was based on the CCSO investigation, coroner's ruling and statements by witnesses and the shooter, Oscar Delbono, 53. It also took into consideration, Magrino's memo said, previous threats of violence by the victim, Shane Huse, 34.... On the day of the shooting, Magrino notes, Huse had approached Delbono at the front gate of Delbono's front yard, and that an argument ensued, a witness said, with Huse “flailing his arms.” The argument was too far away for the witness to hear what was being said, the memo says. A witness who saw the shooting was interviewed, and told investigators that Huse was turning to go when he was shot. The autopsy showed that Huse was shot twice – in the neck and right shoulder - which, the coroner in Leesburg ruled, were consistent with Huse being in a turning motion at the time he was shot. Delbono had made a call to the Sheriff's Office at the time of the shooting, saying that Huse was “going for something,” and that "I feared for my life,” Magrino's memo says."

Self-Defense Considered In Oregon Shooting: "A 40-year-old man survived a shooting in southeast Portland on Monday night and police said he may have been shot in self defense. Portland police officers were called to a home in the 2700 block of Southeast 138th Avenue to investigate a report of shots fired at 9:50 p.m. They found Tristan Taillefer suffering from a gunshot wound and he was taken to an area hospital to be treated for injuries that weren't life-threatening. Police detained three people who were inside the home, but later released them. No other details about the shooting have been released and police did not say what kind of relationship Taillefer has with the people who were detained. The shooting does not appear to be gang-related. Portland police assault detectives are still investigating whether the shooting was self defense."

TN: Good neighbor shoots burglar: "A Kingsport man may face an aggravated assault charge for shooting a fleeing burglary suspect outside a neighbor’s home. Dustin Eads, 29, 132 Gravely Road, Kingsport, was listed in fair condition Tuesday afternoon after being shot by Dennis McClanahan, 52, 2670 Pratt Road, Kingsport, Monday afternoon following an alleged attempt to burglarize the home of Lisa Berry, 47, 2644 Pratt Road, Kingsport. While one Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office report indicates a burglary charge is pending against Eads, a separate report lists McClanahan as a suspect on an aggravated assault charge."
